'Centre would honour 50-year old demand of the people of Telangana,' says former PCC chief Srinivas

In the backdrop of recent meeting with the AICC president Sonia Gandhi, the Minister for Panchayat Raj and former PCC chief D Srinivas said that the Centre would make an announcement favoring creating of a separate Telangana State.

Srinivas said that the long cherished 50 year old dream of the people of the region would be fulfilled by the Centre. He said on Friday that the situation prevailed after December and now is quite different. He hoped that the Centre would announce the same without further wastage of time. Though the State may be geographically bifurcated, there would be emotional bonding among the Telugu speaking people of the three regions and said that the bifurcation would benefit everyone.

Kavuri Sambasivarao takes 'U' turn

The staunch supporter of united Andhra, the Union Minister Kavuri Sambasivarao on Friday took a 'U' turn by making his observations on the separate statehood. He who came to Hyderabad after assuming charge as Union Minister for Textiles said that he would abide by any decision that may be announced by the party high command. He said that everyone knew of his stand on the issue and need not spell it again and added that as a Union Minister he is not expected to agitate like a village sarpanch. He added that at the same time, everyone has to go for compromise at one or other issue.

Minister TG Venkatesh opposes 'Rayala Telangana' State

The Minister for Irrigation TG Venkatesh expressed himself against any proposal by the high command to carve out a 'Rayala-Telangana State'. He said that he would not fight with the party high command if it is mooted but would make efforts to convince the leadership on its negative impact.
