CBI court summons Home Minister in DA case against Jagan Mohan Reddy

The special court for CBI cases on Monday ordered issuance of summons to Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy along with 11 others for their personal appearance on June 7 in a case related to disproportionate assets case against Kadapa MP and YSR Congress Party president Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It gained importance at a time when the Opposition party is mounting pressure for action on the tainted ministers to be sacked. In a strange coincidence, the TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday led a delegation of his party MLAs, MLCs and MPs to the Governor with a request to direct him the Chief Minster to sack the ministers whose names were figured by the CBI in their charge sheets in different cases. Meanwhile, the senior Congress leaders have also sounded a warning bell to the Central leadership to act firmly against the tainted ministers in the State. Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy who is New Delhi said that there was a need to set right the congress affairs in the State. Former Minister JC Diwakar Reddy felt that the Chief Minister has to take a call and decide the fate of the tainted ministers.

Third in the row

Sabitha Indra Reddy is the third Minister in the State Cabinet after Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao (who was arrested by CBI) and Dharmana Prasada Rao to be summoned by the court recently. The other accused in the case include Jagan Mohan Reddy, V Vijay Sai Reddy, Puneet Dalmia, Y Srilakshmi, VD Rajagopal, Sajjala Diwakar Reddy, Sanjay S Mitra, Neel Kaml Beri, Joy Deep Basu, Raghuram Cements, Dalmia Cement and Eswar Cements.

The investigating agency charged under the provisions of IPC 120-B read with 420 and 409, Sec.9, 12, 113(2) read with 13(1) (c) and (d) of the PC Act. The court took cognizance of charges under the provisions IPC sections against all the remaining accused and under PC Act sections against Jagan Mohan Reddy, Dalmia and Rajagopal who has retired from service. The CBI informed the court that it would write to the government seeking permission to prosecute Y Srilakshmi under the provisions of PC Act.

Chanchalguda jail authorities directed

The Court directed the Chanchalguda jail authorities to produce Jagan Mohan Reddy before it on the same day while taking into cognizance of charge sheet filed by CBI on April 8 on the issue of quid pro quo investments by Dalmia Cement in Jagan Mohan's companies.
