Akbaruddin Owaisi remanded to 14 day judicial custody

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi who was arrested yesterday for the alleged hate speech has been sent on remand to 14 day judicial custody. Owaisi was produced before the Nirmal Munsif Magistrate Ajesh Kumar on Wednesday morning. The police has charged Owaisi with promoting hostilities between Hindus and Muslims. Akbaruddin was alleged to have made inflammatory speeches at public meetings in Nizamabad and Nirmal, Adilabad. A number of cases were registered against him.
Akbaruddin was shifted to the Adilabad district jail amid heavy security. Akbaruddin has appealed to the magistrate to consider his health condition and transfer him to a jail with decent medical facilities like Chanchalguda jail.
Owaisi was arrested yesterday after the doctors at the Gandhi hospital declared him fit to face the police questioning. Akbaruddin has earlier sought four days time to appear for questioning citing health reasons.
MIM supporters attack media vans
Despite heavy police force deployed in the district, the MIM supporters have attacked media vans who are covering the shifting of Owaisi to Adilabad district jail. A bandh in Adilabad and Nizamabad is also called on by the party.
