TDP Rajya Sabha MPs defend missing out on FDI vote

December 8, 2012 - Hyderabad

TDP Rajya Sabha MPs Gundu Sudha Rani and Devender Goud who are on the line of fire for not attending the vote on the Foreign Direct Investment in multi-brand retail in Rajya Sabha have defended their actions today. Sudha Rani, who is on way to meet party chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Warangal said that she missed the voting due to personal reasons. Refuting the rumors of a possible understanding with the Congress party, Sudha Rani said that they do not have any necessity to stoop to that level.

On the other hand, TDP senior leader T Devender Goud said that he was unwell and couldn't make it to the Parliament. He said that with BSP giving support to the UPA on the vote and Samajwadi Party already staging a walk out of the Rajya Sabha, he decided to keep up with his doctor's appointment.

The Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly angry at his party MPs in Rajya Sabha for not casting their vote against the FDI in the Rajya Sabha yesterday. TDP senior leader Kottakota Dayakar Reddy demanded the party chief to take action against the MPs who missed casting their votes. Lashing out at the MPs, he also demanded the MPs to quit their positions.
