  • Sec 144 imposed at Assembly premises
    The City police has imposed Sec.144 at the AP Secretariat premises till November 18 following an alert issued by intelligence department that the Telangana activists may attack structures and public properties during the Telangana March. The Secretariat will be closed for two days on September 29 and 30 as a precautionary measure.
  • Maoists extends support to T March
    The police were put to high alert with a letter emanating from the Maoists extending support to the Telangana March. Following a letter by Jagan, who is said to the spokesperson of the North Telangana special zonal committee of Maoists, intelligence agencies have alerted the police on the possible violence on September 30, 2012.
  • Global Hospital bags two national awards
    The Global Hospital in the city has bagged two national awards for extending advanced medical facilities, announced the Hospital CMD Dr. K Ravindrananth. He said that the hospital bagged 'Excellent Health Care' and 'India most admired promising hospital chain-2012'. Speaking to media on Thursday, he said that a 50 bedded hospital in 18 floors is coming up in Mumbai on October 25, 2012.

    The recent action of the Union Minister for Tribal Welfare V Kishore Chandra Deo in directing the AP Government to cancel all the bauxite mining leases is likely to throw a nationwide debate. The question is whether the Constitutional powers vested with the Governors in the event of non-utilization should not be assumed by the Central Government or not.
  • Round the clock operation in the Airport soon
    The Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has approved the recruitment of additional manpower at the Visakhapatnam Airport that paved way for the round the clock operations. The Finance Minister duly modifying the rules approved the manpower recruitment and forwarded it to the Defence Minister on Thursday for issue of orders to the Indian Navy said the TSR Seva Peetham Chief coordinator D Varada Reddy. He said that Rajya Sabha Member T Subbarami Reddy has convinced the Finance Minister of the need for sanctioning of additional staff.
