  • Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu lashed out against the government for the hike in diesel prices that was effective since last night. Speaking at a rally at KBR Park in Hyderabad, Chandrababu Naidu said that due to hike in the diesel price there will be a burden of Rs. 1500 crore on the farmers. Strongly condemning the hike in diesel price and restrictions on supply of gas cylinders, he said that the people are put to severe hardships. There will be additional burden on APSRTC with Rs. 400 crores and RS 700 crores on industries he said. He alleged though oil companies are getting profits, they are showing as losses.
  • Chief Minister announce sops to Physically Challenged during Indiramma Baata in Mahabubnagar As part of 'Indiramma Baata' programme in Devarakonda in Mahabubnagar on Friday, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy addressing a public meeting announced sops to the physically challenged persons. He announced release of Rs. 212 crores for the welfare of the disabled and said that the government has set up 40,000 Disability SHG to redress on the lines of women SHGs in the State. He announced that Rs. 50,000 to those who marry physically challenged persons and assured to provide bank loans to them.
  • TDP President Chandrababu Naidu writes to Lok Sabha Speaker on NTR statue
    In a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu appealed her to allow the family members of the NT Rama Rao family to donate the statue for installation in the Parliament. Recalling how the TDP has been struggling to get a statue installed in the Parliament since 2000 after a first formal request to the then Speaker GMC Balayogi, he said that a decision was taken by the Joint Committee meeting way back on December 19, 2000. He said that he is writing the letter to reiterate the family's decision in this regard.
  • Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao met Union Minister and AICC member Vayalar Ravi and Oscar Fernandes. TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao also participated in the meeting and expressed hope that a positive decision will come out on the Telangana issue soon. It is learnt that the proposed Telangana March scheduled to be held on September 30 also came into discussion.
  • CPI State secretary K Narayana said that the hike in the diesel price will destabilize the economy. He participate in a protest rally in Tirupati. The activists burnt an effigy of the Union Government.
  • YSR Congress Party central committee member Somayajulu demanded an immediate roll back of the Union Government decision on the hike in diesel price. Speaking to media on Friday, he said that the economy will be in doldrums. He demanded the government to come to the rescue of industrialists by rescheduling their loans.
