  • Six MPs from the state were made ministers in the Central Council taking the number of ministers from the State to 10. Chiranjeevi was made Minister of State for Tourism and is given independent charge.
  • Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy congratulated the six Ministers from the State who took oath today. He thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for given preference to the Congress leaders from the State. Kiran Kumar Reddy said that this shows the special gesture showed by Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh towards Andhra Pradesh and hoped that the ministers would give special attention towards issues pertaining to the State.
  • CBI Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana offered prayers at the Sri Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Sri Sailam today. He, along with his family members offered special prayers at the temple. Lakshmi Narayana later left to his home town.
  • Minister D K Aruna criticized TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu questioning him as to how he can adopt Mahabubnagar district for development when he has done nothing for Palamuru. She said Chandrababu Naidu is shedding crocodile tears to gain political advantage by his padayatra. Chandrababu is staging the padayatra only to come to power and not to resolve the problems of the people of the state, she alleged.
  • Former minister and senior Congress leader Samarasimha Reddy called on Chandrababu Naidu in the morning. He inquired about the health condition of the TDP chief. It may be recalled that Chandrababu Naidu suffered a minor back injury recently. Speaking to reporters later, Samarasimha Reddy said he wished that the Naidu's padayatra will become a success. TDP leader, film producer and entrepreneur Murali Mohan also called on Chandrababu Naidu today. Speaking to reporters, Murali Mohan said the corruption is at its peak in the State today and said only TDP could ensure development in the State.
  • Reacting to the union cabinet reshuffle today, Amalapuram MLA Harsha Kumar said that the senior Congress leaders in the state were ignored. He said it is unfortunate that the Congress central leadership has ignored Kavuri Sambasiva Rao.
  • Taking cue from Chandrababu Naidu's 'Vastunna Mee Kosam' padayatra, the TDP leaders in Vijayawada staged a similar padayatra today. The TDP leaders led by Vallabhaneni Vamsi and MLA Devinenin Uma walked from door to door and enquired about the problems of the people.
  • Satyavathi killed in USA consigned to flames
    The mortal remains of Satyavathi Venna who was killed on October 22 in USA was consigned to flames at her native village Kundalakunta of Kanigir in Prakasam district on Sunday. Her husband Venna Konda Reddy, son-in-law Srinivasa Reddy, her second and last son Ram Venna who also lives in USA, maternal grand-father Malakonda Reddy and maternal uncle Pratap Reddy were among those attended the funeral. The body of Venna Satyavathi was brought here by her second son Ramakrishna working with an IT firm in San Jose in California.
  • Poll debacle drives Congress for Cabinet Expansion says Bandaru Dattatreya
    The BJP leader and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday said that the fear of a debacle in the next elections had forced the Congress to go in for Cabinet expansion. In a press release, he said that the excitement of the new entrants and elevation of other seniors would be short lived and added that the 'jumbo Cabinet' held a mirror to this amplifying the fear.
