  • IAS officer BP Acharya gets bail
    Special Court for CBI cases on Tuesday granted bail to IAS Officer BP Acharya who was the prime accused in the alleged irregularities in APIIC-Emaar Properties. The court directed him to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 1 lakh and two more sureties of equal amount for execution of the bail. He is directed to appear before the CBI officials every Friday. It may be recalled that he was in judicial custody since January 31 and the CBI has charged him and other with committing irregularities in land transfer and sale of apartments and villas in integrated township.
  • BJP condemns arrest of party leaders
    The BJP state unit on Tuesday condemned the arrest of party leaders when they were heading towards the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Madhapur to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Prime Minister was in Hyderabad to participate in the COP-11. The BJP leaders took a rally from Indira Park to proceed towards Madhapur but were stopped by the police and took them into custody.
  • Sadbhavana award to Potturi Venkateswara Rao
    The Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration Committee will present Sadbhavana Award to Potturi Venkateswara Rao on October 29. The Committee chairman G Niranjan said that the PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana would hoist the Congress flag at Charminar and a pole was installed to mark the yatra undertaken by Rajiv Gandhi in 1990 at Charminar.
  • Minor fire at HICC just before Prime Minister's arrival
    Just hours before the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived to inaugurate the High Level Segment of Conference of Parties 11, a minor fire that broke out near the dais where the Prime Minister was scheduled to address in which 192 countries at Hyderabad International Convention Centre. Police swung into action and brought the fire under control which is reportedly due to short circuit.
  • Chief Minister to leave to Delhi
    Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will leave to New Delhi on Wednesday to get clearance from the party high command to fill up the nominated posts to various government corporations. It is indicated that once the list is cleared, the names would be announced in Dasara in a phased manner. Nearly 40 corporations and over 280 posts of directors in addition to vacancies to the market and temple committees.
  • MLA Kanna Babu to visit US
    Kakinada Rural MLA K Kanna Babu will leave for US on October 19 to participate in the professional exchange programme titled 'US Presidential election process for young leaders'. He is one among the six politicians from India being selected for the programme.
