  • Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy wrote to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad requesting to exempt students from the State from appearing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in 2013 for admission into MBBS course.
  • All the MMTS trains in Hyderabad were cancelled on Monday in view of the damage to signaling equipment at the Hussainsagar Junction Cabin. The operations would resume on Thursday.
  • The 19-day Global biodiversity event, the 11th Conference of Parties (COP) to Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has begun today. The meet was inaugurated by Union Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan. Over 9000 from 193 countries are expected to attend the meet.
  • The Telangana Students JAC has called for a bandh today in the Telangana region. They also demanded the Telangana ministers to tender their resignations for the Telangana cause by noon today. MMTC trains have been cancelled till afternoon today.
  • Continuous downpour was witnessed since yesterday night in Krishna district. The rains has caused severe traffic interruptions at several areas in the district including Vijayawada and Nandigama. Educational institutions in Nandigama have given the day off due to the incessant rains.
  • Fire breaks out at the Kotthapeta telephone exchange in Mahabubnagar district. A short circuit in the telephone exchange early in the morning has caused severe fires. Telephone equipment and furniture were destroyed in the accident. The fire fighters reached the spot and controlled the fire.
