  • Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao met with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Prime Minister's office in the morning today. The meeting gained prominence as Kavuri has tendered his resignation over being snubbed for the Union Ministerial berth in the recent cabinet expansion. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Sambasiva Rao said he is committed to his resignation. He, however refused to divulge any details about the meeting.
  • Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has resumed his 'Vastunna Mee Kosam' padayatra on the seventh day in Rangareddy district. He resumed the padayatra from Chintapalli junction in Pooduru mandal. Chandrababu Naidu will cover Timmareddyguda, Kankal, Kadumuru, Tirumalapur, Gospadu etc.
  • Protesting the remarks of TJAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram on Minister Geeta Reddy, the MRPS activists tried to lay siege to the TJAC office in Hyderabad. They demanded an apology from Kodandaram.
  • The memorial meeting of former TDP leader K Yerran Naidu who died in a car accident will be held in his home town of Nimmada in Srikakulam district. Film actor and TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chandrababu's son Lokesh will participate in the memorial meeting.
  • TDP leader and film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna said the death of Yerran Naidu is a great loss to the party and the state. While expressing condolences to the family of Yerran Naidu, Balakrishna said Yerran Naidu was committed to strengthening the party till his last breath. Balakrishna spoke to reporters after he landed at the Visakhapatnam airport en route to Srikakulam where he will participate in the memorial meeting. Balakrishna is accompanied by Nara Lokesh, Nama Nageswara Rao, Kadiam Srihari and other leaders.
  • 12 persons including six children who were injured in the Diwali celebrations last night were admitted in the Sarojini devi eye hospital in Mehadipatnam. 25 children who were suffering with eye infection were already admitted in the hospital. Doctors fear that at least 10 children will suffer vision loss.
  • 144 section is still in effect near the Bhagyalakshmi temple in Old City. Hundreds of devotees offered prayers at the temple in the morning amid tight security.
  • The 'Karthika Masam' celebrations have begun at the famous Yadagirigutta temple in Nalgonda.
  • The Nizamabad police have seized Rs. 11.25 lakhs and arrested 1039 in connection to illegal gambling in the district. 288 persons were arrested in Armoor division and Rs. 4.48 lakhs was seized.
  • Property loss worth Rs. 10 lakh was caused by a fire accident at Ayyapa textiles in Utnuru of Adilabad district. The reasons for the accident is yet to be known.
  • Rs. 26 lakhs was looted from an ICICI ATM on the Hyderabad road in Nalgonda. The intruders damaged the closed circuit cameras in the ATM premises and stole the cash. Police sources say that the investigation could be tough as they could not recover any usable images from the cameras. The Nalgonda II police are investigating the case following a complaint from the Bank Zonal manager. A false key was reportedly used to open the ATM.
  • Ports & Investments Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao was injured while celebrating Diwali at his friend's residence yesterday. He has cancelled several of his programmes in Visakhapatnam today.
