  • A convict in the Charlapalli jail has attacked others with a scissor. Venkatayya died in the incident and eight others were severely injured. Venkatayya passed away while getting treated at the Gandhi hospital. Responding to the incident, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy called for a high level investigation in the incident. Jail Warden Krishnnaya was suspended.
  • Governor ESL Narasimhan offered special prayers at the Tirumala temple in Tirupati. Speaking to reporters later, Narasimhan said that there is water scarcity in Chittoor district as well as in most other places in the State. He expressed confidence that the situation will be overcome this year. He declined to comment on the bifurcation of the State.
  • The 10-member minister committee will meet today to discuss the future course of action. The meeting will be held at the residence of Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy.
  • YSR Congress Party leaders offered prayers at the Kanipakam Vinayaka temple for the early release of their party president Jagan Mohan Reddy. Former MPP of Airala Jagannatha Reddy, district steering committee members Srikanth Reddy, Vinay and other leaders were present. They alleged that the Centre and the State Government conspired and had put Jagan behind the bars.
  • A case was filed against film producer Chinni Krishna at the SR Nagar police station. Another producer has filed a complaint alleging Chinni Krishna has attacked him when he asked for his money he lent.
  • APSRTC MD AK Khan has travelled in an APSRTC bus from Chandragiri to Chittoor. He interacted with his fellow passengers and found out about the problems they are facing while using APSRTC services.
