  • Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha has inaugurated the pulse polio programme in Ramachandrapuram in Medak district. Speaking on the occasion, he called on to make the country free from polio. He urged the parents who has children less than 5 years old to make use of the programme.
  • Medical Education minister Kondru Murali Mohan warned strict action against doctors working in government hospitals who run private clinics on the side. Speaking to reporters in Srikakulam, he said that doctors should work whole heatedly in government hospitals. He said that it is the government hospital's responsibility to ensure that a patient is completely treated before being discharged. He added that the government is making efforts to ensure that the strike by 104 staff would end in a week and the services would resume.
  • Lok Satta president Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan resumed his Satyagraha march from Mantralayam today. Speaking to reporters, JP said that they will violated the government restriction and would sell foodgrains in Karnataka. He called on his party workers not to be scared about police arrests.
  • CPI would stay away from the bye-elections next month. CPI State Secretary K Narayana told reporters that they would field candidates against those who resigned for the Telangana statehood cause. He also found fault with the attitude of Congress and TDP over the Telangana issue. He said that the political crisis in the state would continue till the centre take a decision on the issue.
  • Union Petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy said that the hike in fuel prices is like a national disaster. Speaking to reporters in Rajahmundry, Jaipal Reddy said that decision to increase the price of fuel should not be politicized. When asked about the Telangana issue, Jaipal Reddy said the final decision would be taken by the centre and he has nothing to say about it now.
  • Hyderabad mayor Wazeeda Hussain inaugurates the Haritha Green Run centre at the Necklace Road in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor said that they will strike to make Hyderabad top in the world for greenery and cleanliness.
  • Applications would be accepted from March 1 for the Hajj yatra. The applications would be accepted till April 6, said the State Hajj committee.
  • The written examination for the VRO posts began at 10:00 am. The VRA exam will be conducted at 3pm today.
