  • The fishermen in Srikakulam district met today protesting the Kovvada nuclear plant. They have decided to intensify their protests and announced that they would stage relay hunger strikes from December 18 onwards.
  • The IT department is conducting raids at Navaguya engineering office in Visakhapatnam. The officials have recovered several documents in the raids.
  • Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the morning today. The Governor who is on a trip in New Delhi will also meet AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi to discuss about the current situation in the state. The meeting gained prominence as the Centre has called for an all-party meeting on December 28 to discuss about the Telangana issue.
  • Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu will enter Karimnagar district on the 'Vastunna Mee Kosam' padayatra.
  • Rayalaseema IG Govind Singh told the media that heavy police force would be deployed for the World Telugu Conference in Tirupati. The conference will be attended by 20,000 delegates. President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the conference on December 27, 2012.
  • Minister of State for Railways Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy made a surprise visit to the Kurnool government hospital today. He enquired about the facilities in the hospital. Speaking to reporters later, the minister felt that the lack of adequate staff is hindering the services provided by the hospital.
