Chief Minister announces relief package for flood affected people

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy who reviewed the flood situation with the Ministers announced that he would visit the flood hit areas and undertake an aerial survey on Tuesday. He would be accompanied by the PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana along with Minister for Revenue N Raghuveera Reddy, Minister for Major Irrigation P Sudarshan Reddy and Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu.

Writes to Prime Minster to send a Central Team

The Chief Minister wrote letters to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to send a central team to assess the damage and grant assistance accordingly. He also addressed letters to the Union Minister of Textile urging him to ask the Cotton Corporation of India to step in to buy damaged cotton.

Raghuveera Reddy briefs media

Speaking to media after the meeting, the Minister for Revenue Raghuveera Reddy said that an ex-gratia of Rs. 1.5 lakhs would be paid to the families of the persons who died in the floods. He said that the District Collectors are empowered to sanction and undertake construction of houses for the affected under Indira Awas Yojna. Raghuveera said that they have been asked to take up repairs to damaged tanks by sanctioning works up to Rs.10 lakhs.
