  • Supporters of Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy have attacked Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao at NTR Nagar in Hyderabad. They raised slogans that Shankar Rao is involved in land grabbing. Speaking to reporters later, Shankar Rao said that he could not continue in the Cabinet after this attack. He alleged that the supporters of Sabitha Indra Reddy are behind this attack and said that even the police did not act during the attack. He demanded the Chief Minister to remove Sabitha Indra Reddy from the Cabinet. Meanwhile, LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy said that the Home Minister is not responsible for the attack on Shankar Rao. He said that he is ready to face any inquiry in this regard.
  • After attending the media session, Shankar Rao complained about high blood pressure. He was admitted in the NIMS hospital and later shifted to CARE hospital.
  • Reserve Bank of India Governor Duvvuri Subbarao will tour in Vijayawada on December 22. He will participated in a programmed organized by Dr. Dakshinamurthy Memorial Trust and Andhra Chamber of Commerce.
  • TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao met Chief Minister Kiran Kumar today. He expressed anguish that the power cuts are causing a lot of inconvenience to small scale industries.
  • Minister T G Venkatesh said that politicians from all parties are involved in liquor syndicates. Speaking on the sidelines while attending a function in Guntur, the Minister said that the Chief Minister is contemplating of introducing a special law to curb such irregularities.
  • The Telugu Desam Women Wing demanded the suspension of Ministers who are involved in liquor syndicates. They staged a dharna and attempted to seize the Excise Commissioner Office at Nampalli in Hyderabad. The CPI activists also joined them in the agitation.
  • Municipal Administration & Urban Development minister Mahindhar Reddy has toured in Amalapuram of East Godavari district in the morning. He interacted with the locals and found about their problems.
  • Municipal Administration minister Mahindar Reddy announced that the Municipal elections would be held before March 31, 2012.
  • Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy will appear before the officials of the Enforcement Directorate along with Vijay Sagar Reddy. Jagan is likely to reach the ED office at Lok Nayak Bhavan at 11 am. The ED will question Jagan about the flow of foreign funds into his companies.
  • PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana and Tirupati MLA and fonder of erstwhile Praja Rajyam Party Chiranjeevi are in New Delhi. They are likely to meet Ghulam Nabi Azad to discuss about Chiranjeevi's cabinet berth, disqualification notices to rebel MLAs and the number of positions to be given to Praja Rajyam Party candidates for the forthcoming byelections.
  • The examination results of Diploma in Education (D. Ed) 2009-11 were released today. 76.42% of 11,957 students who appeared for the examination have passed.
  • The Passenger reservation system of the South Eastern Railway will be down from the midnight of December 20 till 6 am on December 21. Services like Enquiry, PNR Status, Railway timings, Internet booking etc. will not be available as maintenance will be performed during that time.
  • A fire accident occurred in a timber depot near the Agnampudi tollgate in Visakhapatnam. The fire fighters immediately sprung into action and controlled the fire.
