Jagan Mohan Reddy's new Political Party

December 2, 2010 - Hyderabad

It is official. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former Kadapa Member of Parliament is forming a new party of his own.

Ambati Rambabu, a staunch supporter of Jagan has confirmed to the media today that Jagan Mohan Reddy will set up his own political outfit. Hurt by the treatment received by the Congress high command, Jagan earlier in the week resigned both to the Congress Party Membership and as the Member of Parliament.

Amidst cheers from Jagan's supporters, Ambati told that media that formation of a new party is inevitable. He said that the Congress party itself has brought this situation in the state. The party will be formed before the by-elections in Pulivendula. Earlier in the week, Jagan's mother YS Vijayamma resigned to her Pulivendula assembly seat and Jagan is likely to contest for that seat. Vijayamma will also contest in the upcoming elections on Jagan's party ticket.

The date of announcement of the new party is not yet known, but as per sources, it will be very soon. Ambati Rambabu said that all Congress Party MLAs, MPs, Leaders and workers are welcome to join Jagan's party. Any candidate who walks out of the Congress will be welcomed with open hands, he said. Rambabu appealed to Jagan's supporters to remain patient. He said that Jagan himself will announce the name of the party and the date of announcement.

Jagan's party will be a regional party, Ambati said. He added that Jagan Mohan Reddy has no intention to bring down the current Kiran Kumar Reddy's government. Ambati said that they don't care about the internal affairs of the Congress party anymore, but will have a look at it from an external point of view. He remarked that their party will not have a 'high command' like in Congress and said that People are their high command. Jagan's party will grow strong and will become a stronger force against the Congress party.

Jagan Mohan Reddy has started discussions with few of the Congress MLAs at his residence today. He spoke to the resigned Tourism Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar over telephone today. He also met Pilli Subash Chandra Bose and MLAs Kamalamma, Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar and Mekapati Chandrasekhara Reddy today.
