TDP Delegation meets President Pratibha Patil

The Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu who was on an indefinite fast for the past eight days finally on Friday called off his fast with the intervention of leaders from 10 national parties. The leaders who called on him expressed their solidarity and support for the agitation to help the farmers in the state. Doctors at the NIIMS hospital discharged Naidu today.

TDP senior leader K Yerran Naidu speaking to media said that the Telugu Desam Party will lead a 'Rytu Garjana' in Guntur on 30th of this month. He said that leaders from national parties will take part in the Garjana. He ridiculed the remarks of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy made in Tirumala that the suicides by farmers in the State in no way connected to agriculture.

A delegation of TDP met President Pratibha Patil at Bollaram and submitted a memorandum to her on the plight of farmers in the State. They handed over a letter drafted by Chandrababu Naidu and sought her intervention. In his letter, Naidu satiated that crops damaged due to recent rains are to a tune of 50 lakh acres in the State and the farmers lost lakhs of crores of rupees in the State. He stated that as many as 150 famers committed suicide from this October due to the loss they incurred due to the rains. The TDP leaders sought her help to direct the government to revive the package.
