Police arrests activists, Christian Council condemns VHP action

Tense situation prevailed in Tadipatri after activists belonging to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has brought down the walls, door and windows of a church which is under construction and has installed an idol of Lord Anjaneya.

VHP District President Radhakrishna and BHP State Executive members Gangadhar and Jayaramireddy who participated in the act maintain that the Church was getting construction in an area dominated by the Hindu community and that the Church was brought up with the sole intention of luring Hindus to get converted to Christianity.

Police arrested the VHP leaders and activists who participated in the incident. A police picket post was installed to prevent any retaliation action by the Christian community in the region. Meanwhile district leader of the All India Christian Concil Ravi Kumar condemned the VHP action and demanded compensation for the act.
