18-day tour to coastal districts comes to an end

The Kadapa MP and son of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has concluded his 18 days Odarpu Yatra on Thursday after addressing a huge gathering in Kakinada. Addressing a huge public meeting in East Godavari, Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his anguish and wondered how long his patience would last in the face of developments took place after the demise of his father.

Jagan pointed out Konda Surekha and the suspended APCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu who were present on the dias and said that his heart was heavy at the injustice done to them. He said that he was anguished and unable to do anything and added that he do not know how long his patience will last. In his brief 13 minute speech centred round the criticism of detracts of his father YSR who tried to hind fault with his programmes he shot back at them and questioned whether anyone could question the implementation of the programmes like Rs.2kilo rice, Arogyasri, reservations to Muslims and education to children schemes etc.,

Jagan took a swipe at the government for not coming to the rescue of the families of those who lost their life after his father's death. He took every precaution in his speech in attacking the party leadership. 26 MLAs and 2 MLCs are among those prominent who attended his meeting. They included Minister for Social Welfare, P Subash Chandra Bose, former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna, Jakkampudi Rammohana Rao, Konda Surekha and several former MLAs and MPs. The presence of MLAs and MLCs and other public representatives shows his strength to the Congress high command directly or indirectly. During the current phase of his yatra, Jagan Mohan Reddy consoled over 100 families who lost their kith and kin in the wake of YS Rajasekhara Reddy's death and travelled nearly 1,200 km in Srikakulam and East Godavari districts and touched 323 villages en route an unveiled 323 statues of Rajasekhara Reddy. He will resume his yatra in Prakasam district after conclusion of the monsoon session of Parliament in August.
