State Government announces hike in DA

New DA to become effect from January 1, 2010

The State Government has enhanced Dearness Allowance to its employees by 6.84 percent over the revised scales of 2010 with effect from January 1, 2010 in line with the increase of price index. This decision, which will place an additional burden of Rs.1,18 7 crore per annum on the exchequer, was taken by the State Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons, the Information Minister, J Geetha Reddy said that the State was already spending Rs.170 crore annually on the LPG subsidy. Belying the expectations that the Cabinet would take a final view on the modalities for disbursement of scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement, the meeting asked the Cabinet sub-committee headed by P Subhash Chandra Bose to ensure clarity on the modalities.
