Two more missile production units for the State

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah while releasing the new Industrial Policy 2010-15 in the presence of industry leaders said that the Bharat Dynamics Limited, the public sector defense production unit, will set up two more missile manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh for which the State Government is allotting land. A Rs.600 crore facility will come up at Bhagayat village of Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district over an extent of 500 acres. Another Rs.706 crore missile production unit would be located at Kambalapalli village in Anathapur district.

These two units will provide employment to nearly 2,900 persons and will be completed in three years. At present, Bharat Dynamics Limited has two missile units in Kanchanbagh in Hyderabad that is manufacturing a wide range of missiles including long range surface to surface ballistic missile, Agni, to meet the requirement of Army, Air Force and the Navy and another in Bhanur in Medak district. In view of growing demand for the forces, the Centre has decided to establish two more missile production units.

The Chief Minister said that the agriculture sector would provide livelihood while the industrial development would put the State on a growth trajectory. The new industrial policy was designed to ensure a growth rate of 12 to 14 percent and bring in investments of at least Rs.15,000 crore a year and Rs.75,000 crore in the next five years. Rosaiah urged industrial bodies to act as ambassadors and inform the world about the facilities, incentives and pro-industrial policy of the State to attract investments.
