Chandrababu Naidu's hunger strike goes into fifth day

December 21, 2010 - Hyderabad

TDP Senor Leader Eraballi Dayakar Rao told the media that Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been suffering with an infection today. Dayakar Rao met with Chandrababu Naidu in the morning today. Speaking to the media, he said that Chandrababu Naidu is continuing his indefinite hunger strike on the fifth day today. He said that Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that he is not giving up his deeksha till the Government agrees to the demands made for the benefit of the farmers.

Dayakar Rao said that if the Government doesn't respond to their demands, they will intensify the protests with the help of other opposition parties in the state. It is known that the Left parties and MRPS have already announced their full support to Chandrababu Naidu's deeksha.

Doctor Somaraj has told the media that Chandrababu Naidu's condition worsened. He said that Babu's health condition becomes very critical if he continues his hunger strike today.

CPI State Secretary Narayana speaks to CM

CPI State Secretary Narayana tried to mediate between the Government and the Nara Chandrababu Naidu who is on an indefinite hunger strike. Speaking to the media later, Narayana said that he requested the Chief Minister to send an all party team to New Delhi to bring the farmers' problems in the state to the attention of the Central Government. Chief Minister reportedly questioned the purpose of an all-party delegation to New Delhi when the same issue has been discussed in the assembly. The Chief Minister told Narayana that he is a sending a team comprising three minister to convince Chandrababu Naidu to give up the strike.

Ministers mediation fails

Ministers D L Ravindranath Reddy, Pitani Satyanarayana, Sabitha Indra Reddy met with the fasting Telugu Desam Party President Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the NIMS Hospital today. The Ministers suggested to him to quit his indefinite hunger strike and then they can discuss about the compensation package to the farmers. However, Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that there is no question of him giving up his hunger strike without a clear improved compensation package to the farmers by the Government. The ministers also discussed with TDP senior Leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K Yerran Naidu, Devender goud, Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Tummala Nageshwara Rao.

Court allows forceful treatment of Chandrababu

The Nampally Court has allowed the doctors at the NIMS hospital to forceful treatment of Chandrababu Naidu to avoid any danger to his life. The police has filed a petition at the Nampally court requesting the same earlier. The court has verified the doctor reports that were submitted by the police. The court also allowed the usage of police force while treating Chandrababu Naidu.

TDP leaders arrested

TDP Leaders who wanted to see Chandrababu Naidu at the NIMS Hospital today were left disappointed. The TDP party workers from across the state who reached Hyderabad requested the officials to allow them to visit Chandrababu Naidu. However because of security reasons, their request has been turned down. The disappointed party workers staged a dharna in front of the hospital. MLA Anapoornamma who came along with several of her supporters tried to enter the hospital premises. They were later arrested by the police.
