DGP Girish Kumar says that Apex Court direction is binding on them

The Director General of Police, RR Girish Kumar said that they were bound by the law of the land and the Supreme Court direction was binding on them as far as the postings in free zone were concerned. Reacting to a question at a press conference at Chidruppa village in Medak district on Thursday over the postings under free zone in the department at Hyderabad and the criticism arising out of it, the DGP said that when there is an amendment, it will come into force then.

On the arrest of Viqaruddin, Girish Kumar said the department was directed to file a chargesheet within 60 days from the day of his arrest and efforts were on the way in that direction. While two to three cases are being investigated upon by Octopus, the remaining cases are being dealt by the city police. He said that the accelerated promotions and welfare of police personnel was on the top of the agenda in the department. He said that a committee was constituted to examine the welfare and promotional system being implemented in neighboring States like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Disclosing these details after Girish Kumar inaugurating the district training centre established by the department said that the department would examine according ranks along with scales to encourage the personnel to work more delicately. The district collector S Suresh Kumar expressed confidence that the training centre would become one of the best training centres. The programme was presided over by K Durga Prasad, Additional DGP, Training and top officials were present on the occasion.
