Party workers stage protests in Khammam

The Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K Narayana has demanded the State Government to cancel the Bayyaram mining lease and to stop mining mafia operations. He said that the State Congress leaders has to learn from their own counterparts from Karnataka where Congress leaders there have taken up paada yatras against illegal mining in Karnataka.

Hundreds of party workers joined Narayana in the protests at the Palair bridge in Kusumanchi mandal located at the border of Khammam and Nalgonda. The protests have brought traffic from Chhattisgarh and Orissa in to the state to a stand still. Narayana blamed the Government for its controversial issue of mining licenses and Government Orders in favor of companies of their choice. He pointed out that a huge number of such deals are made during the tenure of former Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Leaders belonging to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) including Khammam MLA Thummala Nageswara Rao visited the protest site and extended his support to the protest program of CPI.
