Fresh incidents despite efforts by Police Department

Despite efforts by the Police Department in curbing acid attacks, a fresh incident of acid attack over a high school girl Lalita by her jilted lover while she was sleeping at her sister's house in Sundarayya Nagar of Tenali has been reported. Though the accused was also injured in the attack, his condition is said to be stable. The accused, Subba Rao, has developed intimacy with Lalitha. She however stopped talking to him after some time following which the accused started pestering her.

Explaining the incident, Lalith's sister Parvathi in whose house the girl was taking rest after working in a maize field till noon, Subba Rao knocked on the door while they were sleeping after lunch. When her son opened the door, Subba Rao forced his way into the house and poured acid on Lalitha. In the melee, when Parvathi tried to prevent Subba Rao, the acid fell on Parvathi and on the accused.

All of them rushed to the hospital where the first aid was given to them and Lalitha was referred to a hospital in Guntur. Lalitha has burns all over the body but the wounds not deep and not much damage was done to her face. The doctors put her under observation at Amaravathi Institute of Medical Sciences for 72 hours. Police suspect that the act is a predetermined one.
