Chief Minister directs officials to cleanup Kurnool within four days

Conducts review meeting

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, K Rosaiah on Tuesday directed the officials to clean the Kurnool town of slush and garbage in the next four days. At a review meeting, he took note of the the overflowing private septic tanks, he directed the officials to empty them and mobilize and send 100 gulpers to the town if necessary. He was informed that three gulpers were already sent and 25 more would be despatched by Tuesday evening.

Teams were engaged round the clock and it may take four more days for the town to be totally cleaned. 15 teams under the guidance of 15 Municipal Commissioners were formed to monitor the situation. A cell was also set up to redress public grievances.

Speaking to media, the Minister for Municipal Administration, Anam Ramnarayan Reddy said the sanitation drive in the town would be completed within three days. He said that Rs.5.5 crore was spent on removal of silt and sanitation and another Rs.5 crore was required for cleaning the town. He said 100 gulpers would be sent to Kurnool for the purpose.
