ACB awaits new Home Minister nod to quiz All India Services officers

Says it can book more corruption cases with ease once given power

In the recent High Court order that directed the ACB to go ahead with investigating cases of corruption against All India Services officer including IAS and IPS officers without the permission from the State Government, the ACB is now looking up to the new Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy for getting a nod.

As per the rules, once the State Government receives the communication from the High Court, it has to formally issue orders giving to go ahead to the watch dog agency. The ACB was said to have received the formal Court orders two days ago. According to it, the ACB can take two months to finish the inquiry against the All India Service officers and complete the investigation within six months without obtaining prior permission from the Government which at present a mandatory.

The ACB has sent a copy of the Court Order to the Government and a reply is awaited said an official of the ACB. The entire ACB team along with their CID counterparts called on the Home Minister. It is reportedly assured Director General ACB RR Girish Kumar that she would soon convene a meeting to discuss the Court order and other issues.
