Vigilance and Enforcement Department conducts raids


The Vigilance and Enforcement Department unearthed Rs.13 crore worth rice stocked at a rice mill in Nalgonda. On specific information, the officials raided the Sri Satyanarayana Swamy modern parboiled rice mill in Huzurnagar and unearthed riced hoarded in the mill. Officials found variation the book balance and the actual ground balance of the stocks during the raid.

The stock books showed 98,000 quintals of paddy but officials found 1,28,000 quintals of rice stocked in the mill. Though the rice miller was supposed to hold only ten percent of his stock in the form of superfine paddy, it was found that he stocked the variety in excess. IGP (Task Force), Vigilance and Enforcement department AR Anuradha said.

Vigilance and Enforcement officials also found 475 quintals of rice stocked in the rice mill. Rice stock worth over Rs.13 crores was seized and handed over to the Nalgonda District Collector for further action. The raid was conduced on the rice mill owned by G Prabhakar.
