The All party meeting of various political parties held on Monday adopted a resolution seeking on weeding out of bogus cards to ensure that not a single deserving person was deprived of white ration cards. Representatives of various political parties said that the State Government had liberally issued lakhs of ration cards before elections and now that the polls are over, it is seeking to cancel nearly 45 lakh cards terming them as bogus.

The CPI State secretary K Narayana demanded that political responsibility of MLAs, in charge ministers involved in the indiscriminate sanction of ration cards should be fixed and they along with the Revenue officer, be made accountable for the lapse. The meeting was organized by the CPI affiliated AP Agricultural Labour Union. Congress spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy said that the objective of house hold survey was not to provide deserving of their cards but to prevent misuse of public money.

All party food advisory committees should be convened before taking up household survey. Lal Jan Bash of TDP criticizing the move to reduce the number of white ration cards on the pretext of bogus cards said the decision would be challenged in the court. CPI(M), Praja Rajyam and Lok Satta representatives said that the government should involve Opposition parties in the exercise.
