Activists stage dharna against TDP president remarks against the party

Traffic in front of the TDP headquarters was disrupted for more than one hour on Sunday when several activists staged a dharna protesting against the TDP president Chandrababu Naidu's remarks against the Lok Satta Party. Raising slogans, the protesters challenged the the Chief of the TDP either to take part in a public debate or tender an apology. In a bid to counter the Lok Satta protest, several TDP leaders gathered at spot and raised slogans against the Lok Satta Party.

As the situation is likely to be out of control, the police prevented any untoward incident. At one stage, activists from rival parties hurled slippers at each other. The situation subsidized after the Lok Satta Party activist left the spot. Speaking at a meeting of party workers on Saturday, Chandrababu Naidu accused the Lok Satta Party of working hand in glove with the Congress as indicated by avoiding candidates against the Chief Minster, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and piling up huge deposits.

The Congress said that Chandrababu Naidu's tirate against Lok Satta Party Chief Jayaprakash Narayan only exposed his frustration at losing people's confidence in the recent elections. Government's Chief Whip Mallu Batti Vikramarka in a statement said Chandrababu Naidu statement showed that he was perturbed over the fate of his party.
