Chief Minister directs to study the problems of inmates

The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy has directed the District Collectors to make night halts in Social Welfare hostels once in a month to study the problems of inmates and redress them accordingly. During an interaction with parents of inmates of Social Welfare hostels from Nalgonda on Friday, he said that he asked the Ministers to visit at least once in a month and take stock of the situation for remedial measures.

The Chief Minister promised to give a complete facelift to the hostels and improve them on par with the best ones in the country. He also assured the parents that his government was committed to providing quality education to the poor. He said that the government is very much particular about the amenities for SC students and the government had accorded permission to the Commissioner of Social Welfare to implement the comprehensive insurance scheme covering group, personal and mediclaim for all boarders and social welfare residential educational institutions.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that there were 2,358 government hostels and other institutions functioning with a sanctioned strength of 100 each. Free lodging and boarding facilities are provided to the boarders in addition facilities like text books, work books, bedding material, trunk boxes, plate, glasses were provided free of cost.
