Police shifts the agitating leaders as their health condition gets deteriorated

The fasting leaders of Congress MP, Lagadapati Rajagopal in Vijayawada and in Kadapa, Congress MLC YS Vivekananda were forcibly removed by the police and shifted to hospitals as their health condition deteriorated. Rajagopal's indefinite fast a for a united State was broken on the sixth day when a 1,200 member police force swooped down on his camp at Swaraj Maidan in the early hours on Saturday and whisked him away amidst much jostling and melee. The manner of his arrest sparked widespread protests, with Congress leaders M Buddha Prasad, Devineni Rajasekhar, K Sivaji and several corporators blocking NH 5 in front of the hospital. All the activities in the city came to a halt as the 48 hour bandh continued.

He continued his fast in the hospital, refusing to undergo treatment as his vital health parameters deteriorated. In response to a petition moved by his supporters, the State Human Rights Commission ordered the government to consider the MPs plea to shift him to NIMS. In Kadapa, the five day old fast by Vivekananda Reddy, MLC was foiled by the police who arrested and shifted him to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences where he continued his decision to continue the fast and warded off doctors who tried to treat him. Condemning Vivekananda Reddy's arrest, an all party committee spearheading the united Andhra movement called for a 48 hour bandh in the district. Irate agitators wend round forcing closure of shops in Kadapa city.

The Inspector General of Police AR Anuradha said agitators set fire to public properties in Nuzvid, Chittoor, Kadapa, Tatipalle in East Godavari besides attacking a degree college in Kakinada. In Anantapur, an APSRTC bus was stoned while a lorry was set afire at Rudrapet on NH 7. A cell tower at Gutti Road and a BSNL go-down were also gutted by agitators.
