Others remanded in judicial custody on the charges of attack on police station


On Wednesday, the First Additional Magistrate M Naidu granted anticipatory and conditional bail to MLC K Durgesh and MLA R Suryaprakash. While granting bail, the Magistrate said that the two public representatives must present themselves before the SDPO office every morning and evening and sign the register until further orders.

However, the court remanded the rest 13 other Congressmen in judicial custody for their alleged attack on a police station and all of them were shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail. After hearing the arguments in the pre lunch session, the Judge issued a non bailable warrants against both the public representatives last Friday for attacking the One Town Police station on Polling day night and Congressmen ransacked police station.

T Jayaprasad, DSP said that the police took M Appa Rao and other Congress workers into custody as a preventive measure on the evening of the polling day as they were obstructing polling process. However, Durgesh along with the MLA went to the police station in the night along with supporters and forcibly took away Appa Rao and the workers ransacked the police station files and furniture.
