Two day District Collectors conference comes to an end

Key decision taken at the meetings

Hyderabad, October 31, 2007

The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who chaired the two day bi annual conference of the District Collectors announced some key decisions. Among them are recruitment of teachers through DSC-2006, Phase IV of land distribution on November 19 and extension of compensation package to farmers whose lands were acquired by various irrigation projects. The Chief Minister deferred the mid day meal scheme sanctioned to students of sixth, seventh and eighth standards since he wanted it for students of ninth and tenth standards also.

Speaking to media, the Revenue Minister, Dharmana Prasad Rao said that the Collectors were asked to conduct DSC-2006 in a foolproof manner without giving scope for litigation or criticism. The intention is to ensure that all schools in the State have teachers but could not say how many will be recruited this time. On the mid day meal scheme, the Chief Minister will talk to the Centre when he visits Delhi on November 2 and ensure that the facility is extended to students of ninth and tenth standards. The Centre sanctioned the scheme for government schools in 737 mandals across the State.

The fourth phase of land distribution programme would begun on November 19 to coincide with the birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The government proposes to distribute two lakh acres on that day. The Chief Minister also decided to observe the birth anniversary of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad on November 11 as the Minorities Welfare Day. Assets would be distributed to the community besides initiating measures for development of madrasas.
