Nellore, October 29, 2007

Heavy rains and floods are washing many parts of coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh with Nellore being the worst hit. Water from forests and other regions are entering and getting logged in towns disrupting normal life in the regions. District Administration is trying its best to rehabilitate people to safer places. At least two buses of the state run Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) carrying passengers are washed away in flood waters near Perlavagu. One of the bus is believed to be carrying at least 22 passengers. Two police constables who risked to save the lives of the passengers are missing. Helicopters are called for and is awaited.

The Met Department said that rains on a scale of high and very high will shower in the coastal Andhra. At least 9 people are believed to have been dead in Nellore so far. Over 6000 people are shifted to safer regions.
