Takes part in house warming ceremony of Indiramma House scheme

Nizamabad, October 17, 2007

Addressing a well attended public meeting after participating in the house warming ceremony under the first phase of the Indiramma scheme at this village in Balkonda mandal on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy assured the farmers that he will use his office to exert pressure on the Centre to declare Rs.1,000 as Minimum Support Price per quintal of paddy. He said that the government would not hesitate to do anything for the farming community and always be with the farming community.

In response to the Assembly Speaker KR Suresh Reddy's request, the Chief Minister agreed to setup a Lok Adalat to settle the payment of compensation to farmers who lost their lands due to the construction of Sriramsagar Project and it would be set up as early as possible.

Speaking on the Rs.2 kilo rice scheme, he said that the Government would introduce the scheme in about four or five months time. He said that the decision to introduce the scheme was taken in view of the inability of the poorer sections to pay Rs.5.25 per kg for ration rice.
