Effigies of Ministers burnt
Hyderabad, June 13, 2006The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and CPI(M) came together and organized protest rallies, 'rasta and rail rako' agitation on Tuesday in some towns in the State protesting against the hike in petroleum prices. Senior leaders of TDP party president N.Chandrababu Naidu pedalled his way to the headquarters on a cycle while CPI(M) State secretary BV Raghavulu led his party cadre in a dharna at the RTC Cross roads.
In Visakhapatnam railway station, CPI(M) and CPI activists detained the Howrah Express for an half an hour while the TDP workers blocked the traffic. In Ongole, the activists of CPI(M) and CPI detained the Navjeevan Express. They burt the effigies of the Petroleum Minister and Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy while in Adilabad, traffic was blocked for some time and trading activity was suspended for an hour.
In Hyderabad, traffic at RTC cross roads came to a halt as the leaders of the two parties squatted on he road. The police arrested he protestors including Raghavulu and Madhu both from CPI (M) and Hyderabad Mayor T.Krishna Reddy, TDP city president G.Sayanna.
