The Guntur district police on Friday unearthed an arms dump in the forest area between Guthikonda and Julakallu villages during a routine search operation according to the Additional Superintendent of Police GVSK Ashok Kumar. The CPI (Maoist) representative Ganganna however telephoned the police and accused them of placing the dump there. He said that the police had fired 22 rounds but there were no reports of any casualties.

The first stage of surgery to separate Siamese twins at Government General Hospital on Friday was successful with paediatric surgeon Y.Nayudamma inserting skin expanders. The three and a half hour operation by a tem of 12 doctors from different specialties and 40 supporting staff was successful with the one year old conjoined twin sisters. Doctors, nurses and media persons watching the procedure online over a television screen outside the operation theatre heaved a sigh of relief over the success of the operation.
This is the fourth operation that Dr.Nayudamma performed at the hospital. The District Collector, G.Jayalakshmi enquired about the condition of the babies and visited the hospital in the evening to see them in person. The Minister for Cooperation, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana congratulated Dr.Nayudamma.
