Vijay Kumar wins Silver in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol

India has won its second medal at the 2012 London Olympics, thanks to Vijay Kumar who won the Silver medal in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event. Vijay Kumar has qualified to the main event with a score of 285. He scored 30 in eight series of 4 seconds each in the main event falling behnd by 4 points to Leuris Pupo of Cuba. Pupo shot 34 equalling the world record. The bronze medal in the event went to Chinese shooter Feng Ding.

Gagan Narang won the first medal for India, a bronze in the 10m Air Rifle event earlier. Speaking after his son clinched the silver medal, Vijay's father Kumar said, "I spoke to him and he sounded calm. He told me he will get a medal today. He was not sure which one but he said he will get one for sure,"

Vijay who was placed fourth in the main event, scored 5,4,4,,4,4,4,2. He has won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.
