Usher sings 'happy birthday' to Becks' son Brooklyn

March 7, 2012 - London

David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son Brooklyn was serenaded by Usher as a surprise 13th birthday gift.

The celebrity couple decided to call in a favour from pal Usher, 33, asking him to sing to their eldest son on the phone.

"Brooklyn was having a great morning sharing all of his presents with his little brothers," the Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

"He's naturally quite shy and isn't one for courting attention, even on his birthday. As he was unwrapping a new Arsenal football kit, David casually walked in telling him there was someone on the phone who wanted to wish him happy birthday.

"Brooklyn had been getting calls from England all morning, so just assumed it was another relative. When he picked up the phone, Usher sang Happy Birthday.

"Brooklyn is crazy about Usher and has met him a few times. He went bright red and started to get really shy. He told his dad afterwards that it was "the best birthday present ever," the source said.

To celebrate Brooklyn becoming a teenager the LA Galaxy star took him to an LA Lakers basketball game.

Not only did Brooklyn sit next to Hollywood royalty Denzel Washington, 57, but he also got to spend quality father-son time bonding over cheerleaders, nachos and popcorn.

The footie star then took him on a manly paint-balling trip.
