Sushil Kumar wins silver at London Olympics

Indian Wrestler Sushil Kumar has won the silver medal in the 66kg freestyle final at the 2012 London Olympics. Sushil has lost to Japanese wrestler Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu 1-3 in the final. Sushil became the first Indian to win medals back-to-back in the Olympics. He earlier defeated Kazakhstan's Akhzurek Tanatrov 3-1 in the semifinal promising India another medal at the Olympics.

Yonemitsu led halfway at 1-0, and won two more points in the second period. Sushil was a bronze medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The silver medal won by Sushil is the third wrestling medal in the Olympic history. KD Jadhav in 1952 and Yogeshwar Dutt in 2012 earlier.

India has so far won 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals at the London Olympics taking their total medal tally to 6. This is their best performance at any single Olympic games. Vijay Kumar won the silver medal earlier, while Gagan Narang, Saina Nehwal, Mary Kom and Yogeshwar Dutt won the bronze medals so far.
