Steve Nash heads to LA Lakers in a sign-and-trade deal

July 4, 2012 - Los Angeles

Two-time MVP point guard Steve Nash is going to the Los Angeles Lakers in a sign-and-trade deal with the Phoenix Suns. The main reason for Nash choosing Los Angeles Lakers is to be close to his children who lives in Phoenix.

Steve Nash spent the past eight seasons with Phoenix Suns but became a free agent. He agreed to a three-contract for $27 million. In return, the Phoenix Suns get four draft picks – two first rounders (2013 and 2015) and two second rounders (2013 and 2014) and $3 million in cash. Nash will join Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol in Los Angeles which will put the LA Lakers back into title contention.

Steve Nash's Phoneix Suns teammate Jared Dudley wished him the best after the news broke out. In a Twitter tweet, Dudley said that Nash has not only been the best player, but the most unselfish player he ever played with.
