Starc's brilliant performance in domestic game gives selectors headache

January 19, 2012 - Sydney

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc strengthened his case to remain in the Australian team after bowling a fiery three wicket spell in one remarkable over for the Sydney Sixers against Perth Glory, which included both the Marsh brothers and former England star Paul Collingwood.

Starc's brilliant performance can give a selection headache with off spinner Nathan Lyon certain to regain his spot for the Adelaide Test match.

Selectors can even consider benching any of the in-form fast bowling pair of Peter Siddle and Ben Hifenhaus.

On the contrary, Australian batsman Shaun Marsh and wicketkeeper Brad Haddin failed to prove their worth in their respective matches in the Big Bash League, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Haddin's misery with the bat continued, making a second-ball duck for the Sixers, while Marsh fared slightly better, striking a run-a-ball 18 for Perth.

Cricket Australia released Haddin and Marsh for their clubs games in the Big Bash League hoping the misfiring pair would regain form and confidence ahead of Adelaide.
