December 15, 2012 - Shenzen, China

Indian shuttler and Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal went down in the semifinals of the $500,000 BWF World Super Series Finals to Li Xuerui of China.

The London Olympics gold medalist Li Xuerui beat Nehwal in three games 22-20, 7-21, 21-13 in a match that lasted 50 minutes at the China Resources Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre. This marks the end of Saina Nehwal's campaign to end the year on a high note.

Li Xuerui continued her dominance in the year by advancing to the final to add to the seven titles that she won earlier in the year. Nehwal was in an advantageous position in the first game and was leading 20-16 at one stage, but Li geared up to wrap the game. Saina fought back to win the second game in just 12 minutes.

The win improves Li Xuerui's record against Saina Nehwal to 5-2. Xuerui will next play compatriot and third seed Shixian Wang in the final.
