Pietersen signs up with IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils

February 17, 2012 - Dubai

England batsman Kevin Pietersen will play for the Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils.

Pietersen will be the official face of the Delhi Daredevils. He launched their new shirt in Dubai.

The Delhi Daredevils are hoping to boost their presence is England after signing Pietersen.

There are already talks in progress between the Delhi Daredevils management and English counties for an alliance similar to the one between the Rajasthan Royals and Hampshire.

Though Pietersen is not in good form, but the Delhi Daredevils have decided to prefer class over form.

Delhi Daredevils boss T A Sekar said Pietersen matched the team's brand and is definitely a class act.

"He fits our brand and there is a saying that Delhi plays on the front foot and KP takes it to the bowler. Form is temporary class is permanent," The Mirror quoted Sekar, as saying.

He said Pietersen is still a big name in India and the IPL side was looking to get associated with some big name players.

"KP is a big name in India, he has records behind him and he has won the Ashes. The sponsors want to associate with big names," he said.
