Muamba's first picture after cardiac arrest shared on Twitter

March 31, 2012 - London

A photograph of Bolton Wanderers star Fabrice Muamba smiling from his hospital bed has been posted on Twitter, as he continues to recover from a cardiac arrest, which he suffered during an FA Cup quarterfinal clash against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane.

"Fab wanted me to post this pic for you all and to also say thank you for such overwhelming support," the Sky News quoted the message, which accompanied the photo.

The Bolton Wanderers midfielder collapsed in the 41st minute of an FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur on March 17. He was treated on the pitch for six minutes before being carried off on a stretcher.

Muamba, whose heart stopped beating for 78 minutes, was then rushed to hospital, and he remains in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green, but is said to have made encouraging progress.
