Mary Kom loses semifinal bout, wins bronze at London Olympics

Indian boxer Mary Kom has lost her semifinal bout against Great Britain's Nicola Adams 11-6. Even though, Kom lost the match she is assured of a bronze medal taking India's medal tally at the 2012 London Olympics to 4. The mood at Mary Kom's family went somber after the loss. Mary Kom earlier told that she will give her best shot in the semifinals.

Mary Kom lost all the four rounds of the bout. The Briton outclassed the mother of two 1-3, 1-2, 2-3, 2-3 to advance to the final. Speaking to reporters after the match, Mary Kom said, "I am sorry, couldn’t win gold or silver. I know my fans prayed and wished for me. I tried my hardest. Happy got a bronze,"

Earlier in the day, a large number of people across Manipur prayed for success at temples and churches. Her first boxing coach Ibomcha Singh expressed confidence that Kom will win ahead of the match.
