Lara Bingle fails to show up at court over driving case

July 3, 2012 - Melbourne

Lara Bingle was nowhere to be seen in Waverley Court, where she was to appear to face driving charges.

The former fiance of Australian cricketer Michael Clarke, was allegedly caught driving on a suspended license in her black Range Rover on May 14, when police claimed she failed to give way and smashed into a motorcyclist.

The incident happened in the back streets of Bondi Beach, not far from the ocean-view apartment producers set her up in for the reality-TV series 'Being Lara Bingle'.

The 25-year-old model also allegedly failed to give proper details to the motorcyclist, Nicki Vinnicombe, who is believed to have suffered a minor injury in the smash.

Bingle's lawyer Vivian Evans was left to do all the talking with her high-profile client absent, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Evans asked for the case to be adjourned until early next month while police provided full details about the incident.

She said Bingle would "hopefully" be able to enter a plea at the best court date.

Meanwhile, Bingle was busy spruiking her back-to-back radio appearances on Twitter.

Nova96.9 boasted Bingle would be reading from the erotic novel '50 Shades of Grey' on its morning program, while Mix 106.5 announced the model would be on hand to "play a fun game called 'will Lara lick it'?".

Bingle is next due to appear in Waverley Court on August 7.
