Indian parade gatecrasher identified as a cast member

July 29, 2012 - London, United Kingdom

The mystery woman who appeared along with the Indian contingent during the march at the 2012 London Olympics ceremony was identified as a cast member. The London 2012 chief Sebastian Coe said that the woman who gatecrashed the parade was a member of the cast from the extravaganza.

Coe told the media at a news conference: "She made it into the opening ceremony. She obviously should not have been there. I can now confirm that she was a cast member. She was slightly over excited."

The gatecrashing angered the Indian Olympic Association who questioned the Olympic security. IOA vice president Tarlochan Singh said that the woman stole the spotlight and that she wasn't even wearing an identity card. The woman was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans and walked alongside Indian flag bearer Sushil Kumar on Friday night. Deccan Chronicle identified the woman to be Madhura Honey, a postgraduate student from Bangalore.

Indian chef de mission PKM Raja said that they would seek an apology from the London Olympics organizing committee.
