IOA delegation to meet Sports Secretary to discuss suspension

After the suspension of the Indian Olympic Association by the International Olympic Committee, a delegation of the Indian Olympic Association will meet the Sports Secretary on Friday to discuss the issue and a plan to return to the Olympic fold. The delegation will be headed by Abhay Singh Chautala at 12 noon on December 7, 2012.

The Indian Olympic Association has already constituted a two-member committee of RK Anand and Narinder Batra to clarify the position of IOA to IOC. The IOA will also form a speical committee to negotiate with the government and the International Olympic Committee to resolve the code issue.

Despite the suspension of the body, the IOA went ahead with its controversial elections yesterday. It is also planning to request the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the issue.

The IOA also formed a three member advisory panel comprising of PT Usha, Pullela Gopichand and Dilip Tirkey who will guide the office bearers on the problems faced by the athletes.
